Steelers starter doesn't pass up the chance to slam the Browns after coming out on top of revenge game in Pittsburgh

Revenge games dominate NFL storylines every week. The Pittsburgh Steelers have already had their fair share with Aaron Rodgers against the New York Jets in Week 1, DK Metcalf against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2, Jabrill Peppers against the New England Patriots in Week 3, and more.

But one of the most animated players on the entire roster is safety Juan Thornhill. A two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs before joining the Cleveland Browns, Thornhill was relased by Cleveland early last offseason.

When hearing his response after the game and seeing what he posted on social media, it's fair to say that Thornhill had Sunday's game circled on his calendar.

Juan Thornhill plays into the narrative, thanks the Browns for starting Dillon Gabriel

"Kudos to the Brown putting a rookie out there against a front like ours, ... He definitely stepped up, made some plays with his arm, but having a rookie coming in Pittsburgh against a defense like ours, that's a tough battle right there," Thornhill told Brooker Pryor of ESPN after the game.

"I think he got a little flustered in the pocket, if I'm being completely honest with you. With me being that post player a lot, just sitting back there, I was watching him. .. He was very antsy trying to get the ball out of his hand, and we were still was getting back there."

To be honest, I thought that Gabriel played as well as you could ask for, given the circumstances. His first start on U.S. soil comes against one of the best defenses in the league, on the road, and with his top three pass catchers, via Jerry Jeudy, Harold Fannin, and David Njoku, all dropping passes. The tweet he posted was in response to Browns fans saying he jogged during his time in Cleveland.

But that's neither here nor there. This was Thornhill's chance to get back at the Browns and after walking out of Acrisure with the W, he took full advantage. He should have had an interception that he let fall through his lap, but his play on the back end surely helped the front seven feast on a battered group of Browns.

Thornhill has a -0.034 EPA per play with the Steelers this year, indicating that when he's patrolling the back end of the Steelers' defense, opposing teams are struggling to score. As he and the rest of the new faces get more ingrained within the Steelers' scheme, I would only expect that to continue down the stretch.
