Steelers Suffer Yet Another Practice Injury

The Pittsburgh Steelers suffered yet another soft tissue injury in practice this week, as backup tackle Calvin Anderson suffered a groin injury.

Anderson was limited in practice on Friday and is questionable to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday. The Steelers already have three players ruled out with soft-tissue injuries this week: wide receiver George Pickens (hamstring), strong safety DeShon Elliott (hamstring) and defensive tackle Larry Ogunjobi (groin).

The Steelers have already had eight players miss 36 man-games this season with soft-tissue injuries. If Anderson cannot play on Sunday, that would increase those numbers to 11 players and 40 man-games. They had 23 man-game lost to soft-tissue injuries in all of the 2023 season.

If Anderson can’t play, the Steelers could dress guard Max Scharping and have swingman Spencer Anderson serve as the team’s primary backup at tackle, or they could elevate Dylan Cook from the practice squad for Sunday’s game.
