Steelers Waive/Injured WR Keilahn Harris

The Pittsburgh Steelers have waived/injured wide receiver Keilahn Harris, according to the NFL Transaction Wire. Harris suffered an injury at some point leading up to this, and it pushes Pittsburgh back to having 88 players on the roster with two open slots after they signed running back Jonathan Ward on Tuesday.

Harris is a small school receiver who went undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft. He landed with the Falcons, too, and has been on their practice squad a few times throughout the season. Harris played at Oklahoma Baptist University, returning punts and kicks and becoming a three-time All-Conference selection.

Those small-school roots helped Harris blossom into an NFL Draft prospect. He was invited to the NFLPA Game and posted straight back-to-back 1000 receiving yard seasons there. Harris also caught 16 touchdowns in 2021 while returning a kickoff to the house. 2022 was his first season as a punt returner, where he fielded ten punts for 66 yards. That versatility is appreciated by anyone trying to make the bottom of the roster, and Harris had a return specialist background that could help him there.

Harris was scheduled to be part of Pittsburgh’s new-look wide receiver room, where he would have been a fringe roster player fighting for a practice squad spot. But now, Harris will have to find a new team once he heals up. The Steelers will move forward with the players they have on the team in the wide receiver room.
