Steelers WR George Pickens thinks Rams tried to get him 'out of the game'

The Steelers offense was able to do just enough to defeat the Rams 24-17 in Week 7. But WR George Pickens was a little worried he wouldn't be able to finish the game.

"A game like this showed me they're kind of looking for me to mess up," Pickens told reporters after the game. "Guys really just trying to get me out of the game or get under my skin."

Pickens is known to play with his emotions on his sleeve and is not afraid to let defenders know when he makes a big play. Los Angeles surely did its best to play to Pickens' emotions.

The second-year wide receiver was penalized twice in the matchup, one for a blindside block and another for taunting. However, he felt like he kept his composure for the most part given how the Rams were playing him.

"Pushing me to the ground...things like that," Pickens added. "Stuff you gotta not respond to but turn around and look to see who did what."

Pickens finished the day with a team-leading five catches for 107 yards, posting his third 100+ receiving yard game of the year. The 22-year-old now has 27 receptions for 500 yards and two touchdowns on the season.

Pittsburgh will certainly continue to rely on Pickens as its big play threat and it seems the only thing that can stop him is himself. If he can minimize the penalties as teams continue trying to get under his skin, the sky is the limit for the young receiver.

Pickens will have another great opportunity to be a difference maker on offense in Week 8 when the Steelers (4-2) host the Jaguars (5-2), who are allowing the second most passing yards per game (273.9) in the league.
