Stefon Diggs fined $15,000 by the NFL

Stefon Diggs’ inappropriate celebration in Week 1 of the NFL season has proven to be a very expensive one as well.

The Washington Commanders wide receiver received a $14,926 fine from the NFL for his goalpost-heavy celebration after scoring a Week 1 touchdown. Officially, Diggs’ offense was “illegal celebrations and vulgar acts.”

The NFL fined Commanders WR Stefon Diggs $14,926 for unsportsmanlike conduct (illegal celebrations and vulgar acts) — jumping onto the goalpost after his TD last week against the Eagles.

This qualifies as a fairly standard fine for such an act. Diggs also received a rather crucial flag for the penalty that cost the Commanders a chance to go for two and the tie against the Philadelphia Eagles. His attempt at explaining away the penalty did not go great, either.

This is hardly the first time Diggs has been fined for an over-the-top celebration.
