The New England Patriots defeated the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 28-24 in Baltimore with quarterback Drake Maye throwing for 380 yards, including 138 to Stefon Diggs.
The Patriots' win cemented their status as a new top contender in the AFC while sending the Ravens below the .500 mark in the process.
Following the game, Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs made a surprising accusation against medical tent staff that treated him during Sunday's matchup.
Diggs says medical staff checked out the wrong body part after he entered a medical tent during the game, according to MassLive.com.
"I was blacking out, bro," Diggs said according to Patrick Warren of the website.
"They was holding me in the tent. They said I had a concussion, but I never touched my head. I never laid on the ground. They monitored me for a concussion.
"I said, 'I never had a concussion. I was touching my shoulder. So how would y'all say (I) had a concussion?
"So I was fighting with them to get back out there."
Sideline reporter Melissa Stark revealed that Diggs was originally forced into the tent and had to be restrained as he attempted to leave it.
A doctor asked him questions in an attempt to check whether he had a concussion or not.
"I was like, I never had concussion," Diggs said. "They said, 'What game is it? What quarter is it? Who'd you play last week?'
"I said, 'Listen, I don't even remember what I ate yesterday.'"
The situation happened during the first five minutes of the first quarter. Diggs returned at the 7:20 mark and turned in one of his best performances of the season, his most yards since October 5 against the Buffalo Bills on the road.
The Pats are tied with the Broncos for the best record in the AFC at 12-3 and the best record in the NFL along with the Seattle Seahawks.
Next up is a road game against Aaron Glenn's Jets who have given up 34, 48 and 29 points in three consecutive losses.
What looks like a huge mismatch on paper could be tougher than expected with the Jets holding homefield advantage and the Patriots entering into what could be a trap game at MetLife Stadium.
Diggs has proven to be a near perfect complement to Drake heading down the stretch of a memorable season led by promising coach Mike Vrabel.
The Patriots have all the pieces in place to make a Super Bowl run in a playoff season that looks as wide open as it has in many years, putting the onus on training staff to take care of Diggs and the rest of the team's players in times of need.
