Wide receiver Stefon Diggs was a big piece of the New England Patriots' success during the 2025 NFL season. Despite a Super Bowl loss to the Seattle Seahawks, New England went 14-3 during the regular season and won the AFC East for the first time since 2019.
After signing a three-year, $63.5 million contract before the season began, he formed a quick connection with second-year quarterback Drake Maye. Diggs led the Patriots in targets (102), receptions (85) and yards (1,013) while also hauling in four touchdowns. It was the deepest playoff run he'd been a part of after previous stops with the Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans.
However, on March 4, one week before NFL free agency officially opened, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported that New England would release Diggs once the new league year began.
At 32 years old, the former Maryland Terrapin is once again free to sign with any team. Vinnie Iyer of The Sporting News predicts that Diggs will land with the Miami Dolphins. This prediction comes as Miami continues to revamp its wide receiver corps.
The Dolphins are undergoing a major rebuild after going 7-10 last season. Along with new head coach Jeff Hafley and general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan, Miami released wide receiver Tyreek Hill and traded Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos.
Despite Hill being limited to just four games because of a torn ACL, the duo combined for 85 receptions for 1,175 yards and seven touchdowns. Waddle led the team in yards (910) and touchdowns (six).
The Dolphins have gutted their wide receiver room, leaving the group thin for newly signed quarterback Malik Willis. However, coming off a 1,000-yard season and hitting that mark seven total times in his career, Diggs would be a proven veteran target.
He likely wouldn't be a long-term commitment either, with Spotrac projecting Diggs' market value to earn him a two-year, $27.6 million contract.
