NFL free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a strong season in 2025, after struggling in his first year away from Buffalo since 2019.

Diggs recorded 85 receptions for 1,013 yards and four touchdowns with the New England Patriots this season. This followed his performance of 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns in 2024 with the Houston Texans.

Diggs is dealing with some off-field issues, and on top of that, his salary cap charge was set to increase from $10.5 million to $26.5 million. This significant rise was the main reason for the Patriots' releasing the talented receiver. If he remained on the roster by the end of this week, an additional $6 million of his contract would have been guaranteed.

Greg Auman from Fox Sports predicts that Diggs will sign with the Tennessee Titans during NFL free agency.

"Diggs, 32, is a four-time Pro Bowl receiver, and his postseason lull contributed to him getting cut by the Patriots," Auman wrote. "Only four touchdowns last year, so he might never get back his Bills heyday from 2020-23. His next team might pay him half of what the Patriots did, but he can still be a solid No. 2 receiver somewhere."

The Titans finished last season with a 3-14 record and subsequently fired head coach Brian Callahan. They have since hired Robert Saleh, the former defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers, to take his place.

As they prepare for the upcoming season, the Titans are focused on finding playmakers to better support former No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward. Last year, only one wide receiver exceeded 500 receiving yards, and neither a wide receiver nor a tight end managed to surpass 570 yards.

Looking ahead, Tennessee’s approach in free agency will play a key role in shaping the team’s rebuilding process. Surrounding Ward with proven playmakers could help accelerate the franchise’s progress and determine whether the Titans can begin climbing back into contention in the National Football League.
