Even though the Dallas Cowboys are set to play the Philadelphia Eagles within a week, there’s a question mark hanging over Micah Parsons’ availability. Fans would love to see Parsons suit up for the occasion, but one analyst wants the star linebacker to adopt a different approach.

Parsons has been locked in a standoff with the Cowboys for more than two months regarding his contract extension. However, the situation has morphed into a messy ordeal with Parsons requesting a trade.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones complicated the entire situation by blindsiding Parsons’ agent while talking business. This triggered Parsons so much that he had no other option left but to go on a hiatus from the offseason training camp.

Parsons routinely attended the Cowboys camp to watch his teammates train while keeping his distance. Jones, meanwhile, accused the agent of the standoff by using some profane choice of words.

With the preseason done and dusted, the Cowboys are prepping hard for their opening day fixture against the defending world champions. There are massive doubts surrounding Parsons starting the game, despite making the 53-man roster.

Parsons is a game wrecker with more than 50 sacks since his debut in 2021. The Eagles are bound to be extra cautious if Parsons lines up against them, but the opposite can also be true. The All-Pro edge rusher’s absence will create a massive hole in the base of their defense.

Renowned ESPN contributor Stephen A. Smith argued that the Parsons-less Cowboys are vulnerable, which he can use as leverage to bag a new contract.

You want to send a message and create a little bit of discomfort for Jerry Jones the way he has done so for you. If the Dallas Cowboys go out there and they struggle on the defensive side of the ball Week 1, going into Week 2, it’s going to be very problematic for Jerry Jones.

While it may be sound advice from Smith, it will only muddy the already muddy waters. Brian Schottenheimer, on the other hand, confidently predicted that Parsons will be in the starting lineup on day one.

I think at the end of the day, we feel like Micah’s gonna be out there when we line up against Philadelphia… I feel good that Micah’s gonna be out there against the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Green Bay Packers are among the favorites to trade for Micah Parsons

Ever since Parsons requested a trade, teams have reportedly lined up to hand over a king’s ransom to the Cowboys for his services. The Green Bay Packers are among the teams’ favorites to acquire Parsons. Of course, the Cowboys must be willing to reciprocate.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst would love to add Parsons to the team, but trading for a high-profile player like the Penn State graduate is never a simple process. He must weigh the medical concerns and salary cap implications before fully pursuing a deal with Parsons.

Any opportunity to help your football team, you have to look at and discuss as a group. We do that all the time. It’s almost daily. I think what someone might consider a bold move.

Gutekunst said (ht/USA Today)

The Packers finished 11-6 in the regular season. Their run ended with a defeat to the Eagles in the wild-card round.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys’ season ended with a 7-10 record, which led to the end of Mike McCarthy’s tenure at Arlington. The Cowboys made a few interesting additions in the offseason, but Vegas still favors the Eagles to win the day one fixture.
