Stephen A. Smith Makes Bold Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Prediction

As much as ESPN's Stephen A. Smith likes to come off as the biggest Dallas Cowboys hater in the world, he's not above predicting that they're at least capable of winning a Super Bowl. In fact, he's expecting exactly that - sometime in the next decade.

On Wednesday's edition of First Take, Smith declared that he believes the Cowboys will win a Super Bowl "within the next 10 years." He said that he can't see it happening in the next five years, but hopes to see Jerry Jones win one more before he "departs."

“I think the Cowboys will win a Super Bowl within the next 10 years,” Smith said, via On3 Sports. “I don’t believe it’ll be in the next five, but they have been so pathetic for so long, I’ve gotten to the point where I actually have sympathy. And I want Jerry Jones to win another Super Bowl before he departs.”

Smith explained that he's good friends with Jones and likes having some fun making fun of his team from time to time. He made it clear that he still hates the Cowboys fanbase, but loves Jones regardless.

“That’s my buddy. But this year he’s been off the reservation… I love Jerry Jones, but he’s been off the reservation… It’s all in fun,” Smith added. “I only go after the Cowboys because I can’t stand their fan base, but even that’s all in fun. I even take pictures with Cowboys fans, I let them troll me and I troll them back. … I’m not being vicious in any way. When I was concerned with Jerry Jones, I was dead-serious about it. Because I’ve seen slippage, and I’m very concerned about it to be quite honest with you. … I’m not joking about stuff like that. But I’ll tell you this, Jerry Jones has a friend in me. I have a lot of love for Jerry Jones.”

After three straight 12-5 seasons between 2021 and 2023, 2024 marked a pretty big step back for the Cowboys as they went just 7-10 and missed the playoffs. The future of head coach Mike McCarthy is now up in the air as his contract expires in the next few days.

Smith might be right on the money about a Super Bowl within five years being unrealistic within five years if the Cowboys are making such a major change right now.

But nobody can really say what the NFL landscape will look like in a decade.

How many people thought after the 2014 season that the 9-7 Kansas City Chiefs would be eyeing a Super Bowl threepeat?
