Super Bowl Champion Agrees to Contract With Cincinnati Bengals

Four-year veteran edge defender Boye Mafe has agreed to a new three-year, $60 million contract with the Cincinnati Bengals. Mafe, a former second-round pick and one-time Super Bowl champion, spent the entirety of his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

The 2025 season was far from the best of Mafe’s career, but the pass rusher still put together a solid season for a great Seattle team. Appearing in 17 games while making four starts, the edge defender finished the season with two sacks, 31 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, four quarterback hits, and a 70.3 PFF grade, the 47th-best mark out of 119 eligible players. With his help, Seattle made it to the Super Bowl and defeated the New England Patriots to hoist the second Lombardi trophy in franchise history.

Boye Mafe originally entered the league as a second-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Selected by the Seattle Seahawks, the Minnesota product made an immediate impact as a situational pass rusher. Appearing in all 17 games while making three starts, Mafe finished the season with three sacks, 41 tackles, three tackles-for-loss, four quarterback hits, and a 64.6 PFF grade.

The pass rusher built on that promising debut and earned a full-time starting job in what would be Pete Carroll’s final season with the team. Starting and appearing in 16 games, Mafe recorded career-best numbers in sacks (nine), tackles (52), tackles-for-loss (nine), and quarterback hits (16), while his 73.9 PFF grade was the second-best number of his career.

Seattle hired a new coach, Mike Macdonald, for the 2024 season, and Mafe remained a key player in his scheme. During the 2024 season, the edge defender recorded six sacks, 40 tackles, eight tackles-for-loss, 12 quarterback hits, ,and a career-high 75.1 PFF grade.

Since signing his rookie contract, Boye Mafe has appeared in 65 games while making 34 starts. While on the field, the pass rusher has recorded 20 sacks, 164 tackles, 24 tackles-for-loss, and 36 quarterback hits.
