Super Bowl King of Props: Last call

As two recent Super Bowl champions prepare to compete for another title, the cores of the teams are notably different. Head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes lead the Chiefs to their third Super Bowl appearance in the last four years, having captured the crown in February 2020. On the other side, the Eagles are five years removed from their title, and both the coach (Nick Sirianni) and QB (Jalen Hurts) are newcomers.

The betting options for the Super Bowl likewise reflect familiar and foreign elements. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of props, especially since many are unique to this event. In the run-up to kickoff, all of the KOP’s favorite investment opportunities will be posted here at Yardbarker.

The bet: Over 27½ receiving yards for Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney (DraftKings)

Selected by the Giants in the first round of the 2021 draft, Toney was traded to Kansas City midway through his second season. He possesses outstanding after-the-catch ability, but staying healthy has been a problem and an ankle injury caused him to miss the last three quarters of the AFC Championship Game.

When Toney is on the field, the Chiefs have been scheming up ways to get him the ball. He saw a season-high seven targets in the divisional-round win over the Jaguars, finishing with five receptions for 36 yards. He also returned three punts and had a 14-yard run.

No longer considered questionable, Toney has been removed from the injury report and is said to be a featured part of the game plan. He can serve as a much-needed playmaker against an Eagles pass defense that allowed the fewest yards in the league, and Mahomes should give him several opportunities.
