Super Bowl LV TV ratings higher in Boston than Tampa

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers took out the favored Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV on Sunday night. This represented Brady’s seventh title and his first since moving on from the New England Patriots after 20 seasons.

In looking at who was watching the game, it’s rather interesting to note that those who rooted for Brady in the Boston area seemed to be more interested in the big game than those in Tampa.

According to John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, the Super Bowl LV TV ratings in Boston were 57.6 compared to 52.3 in the Tampa Bay metropolitan area.

These are somewhat stunning numbers. Remember, the game was played at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla. As for the Patriots, they are coming off their first losing season since all the way back in 2000.

Apparently fans in the New England region tuned in to watch their former quarterback go for a seventh title. In the end, that’s exactly what we saw with Brady throwing three touchdowns against zero interceptions in a 31-9 blowout win over Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

It’s also important to note that a majority of Patriots fans were rooting for Brady. They simply were not tuning in to the game in order to see him lose. Bringing a city six Super Bowl titles in 20 seasons will definitely do that.

Not only did Brady win his seventh title, but he earned his fifth MVP in the big game by vastly outplaying the above-mentioned Mahomes. He now has more Super Bowl wins than every franchise in the NFL. That’s just some stunning stuff.
