Super Bowl LVII shows why Steelers still have a ways to go

Super Bowl LVII was a high-flying contest that had a total of 73 points scored. Did it expose just how far away the Steelers are from getting back to the big game?

The NFL oddsmakers seem to think so. Pittsburgh has the 12th-worst odds to win Super Bowl LVIII and the worst in the AFC North, per FanDuel.

The game showcased two teams with great coaching and offensive game plans. The Eagles put up 35 points but still lost to the Chiefs who scored 38.

The Steelers never scored more than 30 points in 2022. They scored 30 points just once, in Week 11, and they still lost the game.

Pittsburgh was the sixth worst team in the league in points per game (18.1) this season. But the Steelers decided to keep Matt Canada as their offensive coordinator.

That move left many fans shaking their heads.

Many used to say that offense wins games, but defense wins championships. However, the league has been heading in an offensive direction for some time now.

If the Steelers want to get back to the Super Bowl, something needs to change offensively, or they are going to be left in the dust.
