The Florida Gators have had multiple players win the Heisman in the program's vast history.
The most recent Florida Heisman winner was Tim Tebow in 2007, followed by Danny Wuerffel in 1996 and Steve Spurrier in 1966.
Despite not having a player win the award since 2007, the Gators have had players up for the Heisman in recent history.
Tebow was a finalist in 2008 and 2009, but it has been a while since Florida had a player sent to New York.
The last player to do so was quarterback Kyle Trask in 2020, but unfortunately, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers plan to release him, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
Trask is going to the IR after a shoulder issue came up during the preseason, then he is going to work out a settlement or release with the organization in the coming weeks and become a free agent quarterback.
Trask was with Florida from 2016-2020 and finished eighth all-time on the program's career passing yards list. He ended his Florida career with 7,386 passing yards, 69 touchdowns and 15 interceptions.
It has been a tough time to be a former Florida quarterback, as Indianapolis Colts gunslinger Anthony Richardson lost the starting job to Daniel Jones.
Stephen A. Smith went in on Richardson on a recent edition of "First Take," and was stunned as to how Richardson has not panned out in the NFL.
Florida is now coached by Billy Napier, who has a 19-19 record ahead of his fourth year with the team. The expectations are high after an 8-5 finish to 2024, and Kirk Herbstreit has named the Gators as a dark horse to win the SEC title.
Florida has a chance to take a big step forward in 2025.
