Tampa Bay Buccaneers to interview former Chargers, Cowboys OC Kellen Moore
Kirby Lee/USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be interviewing former Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore for their open coordinator job on Monday, according to Mike Garafolo. The former Dallas Cowboys coordinator has received other requests to interview as well since Jim Harbaugh’s hiring in Los Angeles spelled the end of his time as the OC there this week. The Eagles have reportedly already interviewed Moore and he’ll have a meeting with the Cleveland Browns on Friday before heading down to Florida.

Tampa Bay’s offensive coordinator position became vacant this week after the Carolina Panthers hired away Dave Canales to be their head coach. Canales only coached the Buccaneers for a single season but he set expectations high for his successor. He helped with Baker Mayfield‘s resurgence and coordinated the offense on their way to a playoff run.

The Eagles parted ways with offensive coordinator Brian Johnson this week. One year removed from boasting the league’s third-ranked offense, the Eagles finished eighth in total offense in 2023. They ranked seventh in points per game (25.2), though points are exactly what dried up down the stretch. Philadelphia scored 19 points or less in four of its final six games of the regular season.

They were blasted in the NFC Wild Card Round, 32-9, by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the game, the offense failed to convert a single third or fourth down.

The Browns opted to fire offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt after the end of the season. He coordinated the No. 16 offense in the regular season (335.9 ypg). The Cleveland offense finished tied for the No. 10 scoring offense with 23.3 points scored per game.

After losing Deshaun Watson to a shoulder injury in November, the team turned to Joe Flacco who had a bit of a career resurgence while taking the Browns to the playoffs. However, in the postseason, Flacco had two interceptions, both returned for six by the Texans.

Kellen Moore led the Los Angeles offense to a 25th-place finish in points scored per game this season with 20.4 ppg. The Chargers’ 5-12 record this season included wins against the Vikings, Raiders, Bears, Jets and Patriots.

As offensive coordinator for the Cowboys, a job he took over in 2019, Moore led the team to top six finishes in points per game in three of four seasons as offensive coordinator. The Cowboys also finished No. 1 in yards per game in 2021 and 2019. Dallas and head coach Mike McCarthy opted to send the O.C. packing after the 2022 season in favor of calling plays himself.
