Taylor Lewan Has Warning for Brian Callahan & Titans Ahead of NFL Draft
George Walker IV / Tennessean.com / USA TODAY NETWORK

The Tennessee Titans have a potentially franchise-altering decision looming in the 2025 NFL Draft. On Tuesday, former Pro Bowl left tackle and legendary franchise figure Taylor Lewan spoke on "Up & Adams"  about the team's quarterback situation and sent head coach Brian Callahan a message about what to do with the first pick.

"If I'm Callahan ... I need to preserve my job because if you start the way you did last year, it would essentially be, 'don't let the door hit you on the way out,'" said Lewan. "I would have a hard time as a head coach drafting a rookie (quarterback) in a draft class that has been criticized for not being very strong. If I were them, I would definitely look into the free agency market."

Lewan was drafted by the Titans in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft and spent his entire nine-year career with the franchise. He was a three-time Pro Bowler under head coaches Mike Mularkey and Mike Vrabel and was an integral player during the team's playoff runs from 2017 to 2021.

He has since become a famous podcaster for Barstool Sports and his voice has been growing in the football world for years now. His comments are a bit harsh but contain several truths, the most important of which is that Coach Callahan currently has no job security. Tennessee brought in a new general manager this offseason, so if the Titans fail once again in 2025, Callahan will likely be the next to go.

The quarterbacks in this year's draft class have drawn mixed reviews, but there are a handful of blue-chip prospects on both sides of the ball that may be less of a risk for the team to take. There are also several veteran signal-callers available that could immediately raise the floor of this team, which would buy Callahan some time.
