The Las Vegas Raiders are supposed to be trying to find their next match in 2024. Instead, they are basically sitting on their hands.
No, they have yet to interview any head coaching candidate - not even interim head coach Antonio Pierce. And, yes, I know that they want to find a GM first, but that does not mean you simply cannot interview coaches during that time, too.
In fact, you should interview coaches too, because if you haven't interviewed anyone yet, there could be no good candidates left by the time you start that. Or at least none of the candidates you originally wanted.
So, yes, it feels like teams are running circles around the Raiders this offseason regarding a head coaching search.
Then, when you factor in that other teams, such as the Tennessee Titans, are interviewing your interim head coach for their head coaching gig, it makes things even worse. And now there is one more team added to that list.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the Atlanta Falcons have requested permission to interview Antonio Pierce for their head-coaching job. Because it is not a lateral move and would, in fact, be a promotion, the Raiders pretty much have to allow it.
One more for Antonio Pierce: The #Falcons have requested permission to interview him for their head-coaching job, sources say. Pierce interviewed for the #Titans’ gig yesterday. The #Raiders have not conducted any known HC interviews to this point.

So, while the Raiders are just sitting around waiting to pick their general manager, every other team is out searching for a new head coach. Should the Raiders go with a GM first? Absolutely. But you can conduct two searches at the same time.
Luckily, they have already interviewed and plan to interview several GMs soon, so maybe they can hurry and start the HC process. Here is a GM tracker just so you can keep up with all the interviews.
