Tennessee Titans Have No Plans To Add To QB Room
- NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon, left, poses for pictures with Cam Ward who earlier had been introduced as the Tennessee Titans first-round pick – and overall number one pick – in the NFL Draft at Ascension Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville, Tenn., Friday, April 25, 2025. Moon, whose No. 1 jersey is retired for the Tennessee Titans, allowed Ward to wear his number.

Even after it was announced that Tennessee Titans Quarterback Will Levis would miss the entire NFL season because of an operation on his shoulder, GM Mike Borgonzi told the media that the Titans are not looking to add anyone to their quarterback room. With this piece of information in mind, it is fairly obvious where this is going. The organization is planning on starting Cam Ward. The first overall pick will get the shot to start Week 1.

Ward Was Going To Be the Tennessee Titans Guy Regardless

Ward was going to be the Titans’ starting quarterback this season, regardless of Levis’s health status. The news that they aren’t planning to add another quarterback is a little surprising, however. There was a thought that the organization might add a veteran quarterback to mentor Ward, but the fact that they aren’t says a lot about the organization’s trust in him.

Some quarterbacks are talented enough that they can jump into the NFL without being held back and become a star, like Jayden Daniels did with the Washington Commanders last season. Other times, it is not uncommon for a veteran to start a couple of games before a young quarterback is put in as the starter.

The Big Question Going Into the Season

The big question with Ward as the starter is, what’s the risk? There is none. If Ward struggles, it will give him experience of what it feels like to struggle in the league. This isn’t going to be a season where the Tennessee Titans contend anyway, so getting the future franchise quarterback experience and familiarizing oneself with the Tennessee Titans system will be key.

Levis wasn’t going to be in the team’s plans. He had plenty of chances with the Titans and couldn’t capitalize when given the opportunity. In the NFL, if you’re given an opportunity and don’t take advantage of it, you’ll be easily replaceable.
