The Tennessee Titans have good reason for optimism heading into the 2022 season. After trading away star receiver A.J. Brown, the TItans had 9 draft picks to help fill out the roster. Of those, the Titans selected their hopeful quarterback of the future, Malik Willis. The signing of their 3rd round pick to a rookie deal means every Titan drafted in 2022 is now under contract.  It’s largely assumed Willis will begin his career as QB2 but his upside does threaten Ryan Tannehill’s job security.

Most importantly though, the Titans have their keystone offensive weapon back. Derrick Henry reported to camp looking healthy and eager. After beginning the  2021 season very strong, Henry’s broken foot ultimately ended what could have been a magical campaign. In his 8 games, Henry compiled 219 carries for 937 yards with 10 touchdowns.

Another offseason move for the Titans was trading for WR Robert Woods. After tearing his ACL in November, Woods came to the Titans in a late-March trade with The Los Angeles Rams. Cleared off the PUP list to start camp, it’s unlikely Woods will see much time during the preseason. His goal is to be ready by week 1 when the New York Giants come to Nashville.

Hopes and Expectations for the Titans in 2022

The Titans won the AFC South in 2021 and secured the AFC’s #1 seed.  They have every expectation to repeat that success, though, obtaining the #1 seed could be a challenge in the contentious conference. The AFC South can be realistically won again. The only other true threat in the division are the Indianapolis Colts

The Titans will need consistent play from QB Ryan Tannehill. 14 interceptions and 4 fumbles lost simply won’t do for a veteran QB. If Derrick Henry and Robert Woods can come back healthy, they will help overcome some of Tannehill’s liabilities.
