Tennessee Titans to add absolute stud linebacker via free agency to anchor the middle of their defense
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans watched the anchor of their 2023 defense (Azeez Al-Shaair) who racked up over 160 tackles last season walk away via free agency. An thus, they desperately needed to make a move to fill that void. Late Monday night they struck a deal to ensure they brought in the best available free agent linebacker on the market.

According to Mike Garafolo the Titans will be signing Kenneth Murray to a two-year deal worth up to $18 million dollars. The deal can become official Wednesday when the NFL free agency period officially begins.

Kenneth Murray is the exact kind of linebacker the Titans always love. They look for do-it-all consistent tacklers who can add value as a spot pass rusher when needed. That's exactly what Murray brings.

Murray is coming off the second 100+ tackle season of his career and the best year as a pass rushing asset. He tallied three sacks on the year and brought his pass rush pressure rate over the last two years to 22% (near elite mark).

As a cover linebacker Murray's aggression got the worst of him on a few occasions last season, but outside of two poor games he posted the best pass defense numbers of his career too.

When you mix Murray's most recent proven productive track record with his 97th percentile A to Z Sports Athletic Composite Score that translates to elite on-field movements skills you get the perfect anchor to the Tennessee Titans defense for 2024 and beyond.
