I understand the rumors, and maybe I’m feeding into the 0-5 start too much, but I do think the relationship between the Tennessee Titans and Cam Ward could be slowly growing sour.
Let me preface this with my opinion of Cam Ward: I believe this dude will be a high quality starting NFL quarterback. I’ve seen moments of him in his rookie season making plays very few quarterbacks can make in a Patrick Mahomes & Caleb Williams style, but his inability to methodically drive down the field and hit the easy throws is concerning.
For right or for wrong, quarterbacks have a very short leash in the NFL with their original team, and I believe this continuation of a bad sophomore season could lead to irreparable damage in their relationship.
Once again, I believe Ward needs to be put in a far better situation, as well as he has to perform better, but here are three landing spots I can see if the Titans move off of Ward this upcoming offseason.
The answer is no. The soonest a quarterback was traded after being drafted first overall sinceo 2000 was Baker Mayfield who was traded after four seasons, not just two. This should give Titans fans some hope in knowing he will still get a chance to keep growing even if that means 2026 is another developemental year, and 2027 is the one that we can expect the massive leap from him.
