Terry Bradshaw confused by Tom Brady's decision to sign with Buccaneers

Tom Brady signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers sent shock waves around the NFL. It led many to question why he'd want to leave the New England Patriots after 20 years of success for a franchise with a history of futility.

Like many, Fox NFL analyst Terry Bradshaw couldn't wrap his head around why the six-time Super Bowl champion would want to step away from the organization that invested so much in him over the years.

“Why in the world does he want to keep on playing at 43 other than to prove to New England he’s more important than Bill Belichick?” Bradshaw said in an interview with The Athletic's Ed Bouchette. “That’s the way I would look at it. Why the hell do you want to go to Tampa? The only thing I can think of is ego gets involved and you decide, ‘I’ll show ’em who’s more important.'

“I would never have done that, and I was shocked he was leaving. Shocked. I’ve never known a great quarterback — a great quarterback — at the end of his career, go to another team and do anything. Now, Brady’s different — nine Super Bowls, six victories. He’s a different cat. But the offense they ran in New England was perfect for him.”

Of course, it's hard to come up with a reason why Brady would want a fresh start at almost 43 years old, especially considering how well he performed in the New England offense, as Bradshaw mentioned.

In 20 years with the Patriots, Brady had a 63.8 completion percentage with 74,571 passing yards, passing 541 touchdowns and a 219-64 regular-season record.

While he'll never come close to those numbers in Tampa Bay, it'll definitely be interesting to see how he performs through his two-year, $50 million deal.
