Longtime football fans are well-acquainted with Terry Bradshaw’s larger-than-life personality, whether from his Hall of Fame career or decades as a broadcaster. As a four-time Super Bowl champion and one of the most recognizable voices in NFL media, Bradshaw has been a central figure on Fox NFL Sunday since 1994, offering insight, humor and plenty of memorable moments. Even at age 77, his presence still draws attention both for his football knowledge and his unpredictable energy on live television.
But on Sunday evening during the NFC Championship Game halftime show, Bradshaw’s commentary took an unexpected turn that left his co-hosts and viewers puzzled. After Fox aired a clip of Kristina Pink interviewing Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez following New England’s 10-7 AFC Championship win over the Denver Broncos, the broadcast returned to the NFL on Fox desk, except Bradshaw appeared to miss the setup.
Moments after the Patriots-focused interview, he launched into analysis of the Seattle Seahawks vs. Los Angeles Rams game, praising Sam Darnold’s first-half performance in the wrong context:
“You know what, Sam Darnold, they turned him loose in the first half,” Bradshaw said. “209 yards passing and a touchdown in the first half. Sam Darnold is playing great football for Seattle.”
The studio fell quiet for a few seconds before Michael Strahan began laughing, trying to steer the conversation back on track:
“Yeah, I mean, he is, but we thought we were talking about that first game… But it’s okay,” Strahan said with a chuckle.

The moment quickly spread online, with social media users noting the awkward timing and Bradshaw’s apparent confusion about what topic was at hand.
While some fans found the incident amusing or nostalgic, others interpreted it as part of a larger pattern of on-air gaffes from the veteran analyst, prompting debate about whether it’s time for Bradshaw to retire.
“Why is Terry working? Enjoy your retirement, dude. You have earned it,” said one fan.
“Legendary run, but he should have been off the air 5 years ago,” another fan reacted.
“It might be getting time for Terry to step down & allow younger voices to prevail,” a third fan wrote.
“They HAVE to cut him loose after this season, it's well past time,” added another.
“First Al Michaels and now this. Hate to see it when you grow up with these guys when you first start watching as a kid,” another fan posted.
Despite the reactions, his longtime colleague Curt Menefee has previously stated that Bradshaw has no intention of stepping away, and he continues to be a fixture on Fox’s NFL coverage.
