All the speculation surrounding Aaron Rodgers and his NFL future came to an end Thursday. Despite some rumors about him possibly retiring, the four-time MVP plans on signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Rodgers has been linked to the Steelers since free agency opened in March. The franchise was willing to lose Justin Fields and Russell Wilson just to have a chance at signing Rodgers. Well, their patience was rewarded this June.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Steelers expect to have Rodgers in Pittsburgh this Friday to work out an agreement. That puts him on track to be ready for the start of mandatory minicamp.
Schefter said Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was a "drawing card" for Rodgers during the free agency process.
Tomlin is clearly on board with Rodgers leading his offense. We can't say the same thing for Steelers legend Terry Bradshaw.
Just a week ago, Bradshaw told 103.7 The Buzz that he doesn't want his former team to sign Rodgers.
"That's a joke. That to me is just a joke," Bradshaw said, via CBS Sports. "What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year, are you kidding me? That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there."
Maybe, just maybe, Bradshaw and Rodgers will settle their differences this offseason.
Ironically enough, Rodgers' first regular-season game with the Steelers will be against the New York Jets.
In his only season with the Jets, Rodgers threw for 3,897 yards with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He'd probably love nothing more than to dice up Aaron Glenn's defense in Week 1.
