If the Pittsburgh Steelers want Terry Bradshaw's blessing before signing Aaron Rodgers, they're not going to get it.
Rodgers has been linked to the Steelers since the start of free agency in large part because they're the only team in the market for a veteran quarterback. As of right now, their Week 1 starter would be Mason Rudolph.
With training camp quickly approaching, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said it'd be a surprise if Rodgers doesn't sign with the Steelers.
"It would be a surprise if Aaron Rodgers is not on the Steelers right now. I'm not saying he's made his decision, I'm not saying retirement's ruled out... But it would be a surprise. Maybe a better question is just when," Rapoport said. "And to me the one that makes the most sense is the news will come out right before mandatory minicamp. Show up, little media, get on the field, get the playbook, see ya later, goodbye for the summer. Come back when training camp is starting and then everything is a go."
Before Rapoport provided this update on Rodgers, the Steelers received a warning from Bradshaw.
Bradshaw, a four-time Super Bowl champion with the Steelers, made it clear that he doesn't want his former team to sign Rodgers.
"That's a joke. That to me is just a joke," Bradshaw said, via CBS Sports. "What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year, are you kidding me? That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there."
The fact that Pittsburgh is going through OTAs without Rodgers isn't exactly a great way to build team chemistry. That is, of course, if the four-time MVP is interested in joining Pittsburgh's quarterback room.
If the Steelers sign Rodgers this offseason, we'll have to check in on Bradshaw to see if he changes his stance or continues to rip his former team.
