Terry Bradshaw rips Steelers, gives sarcastic advice to Aaron Rodgers: ‘Stay in California and chew on bark’

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Terry Bradshaw is not holding back with his opinion on the team potentially adding Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers are currently waiting it out to bring in Rodgers, a four-time MVP winner, who would step in as their starting QB for the 2025 season.

The 41-year-old Rodgers is still a free agent and not made a decision on what team he will play for this upcoming season, or whether he will play at all. Bradshaw would rather the QB go anywhere but Pittsburgh.

“That’s a joke,” Bradshaw said on 103.7 The Buzz in Little Rock, Arkansas. “That is just to me is a joke. What are you gonna do? Bring him in for one year? Are you kidding me? . . . . That guy needs to stay in California. Go somewhere and chew on bark and whisper to the gods out there.”

Rodgers played the past two seasons with the New York Jets after spending the first 18 years of his career as a Green Bay Packer, winning one Super Bowl. He suffered an Achilles injury four games into his first season in New York and returned last year to throw for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions.

The Jets opted to release Rodgers this offseason after a disappointing 5-12 finish in which they failed to make the playoffs. It was only the fourth time in his career that the QB threw for double-digit interceptions in a single season as he had a 63% completion rate.

Bradshaw stated his belief that the Steelers moved on too quickly from Kenny Pickett, their former first-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Pickett played two seasons as started and had a 14-10 record before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles this past offseason.

“I liked Kenny Pickett,” Bradshaw said “I liked him at Pitt. I know him, I know what he’s like. And when they got him to Pittsburgh, here’s what they didn’t do. They didn’t protect him . . . they didn’t get him an offensive line. They wanted to run the football, but they didn’t have an offensive line that could protect, and they didn’t have weapons. He had no wide receivers to speak of.

“And then they throw a kid in there for two years and you’ve got an offense that doesn’t fit and doesn’t work, and they can’t run because their offensive line’s not even good enough for a run blocking team. And therefore they say Pickett was a failure. He wasn’t a failure, the Steelers were a failure.”

Currently, Pittsburgh has longtime backup Mason Rudolph, fourth-year player Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard as the only quarterbacks on its roster. If it doesn’t sign Rodgers, Kirk Cousins has been floated as another potential name to join the team as the starter.
