Texans agree to deal with DE Logan Hall, making offseason plans clear

Loading up to take that extra step as a team and shore up their defense even more, the Houston Texans agreed to a deal with defensive end Logan Hall

The deal is for two years and $7 million, per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.

Hall, 25, will now switch conferences after spending the first four seasons of his career in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers.

Houston's defensive line was among the NFL's best in 2025

Adding Hall to an already formidable Texans defensive line will strengthen a unit that produced 47 sacks in 2025. Houston's 47 sacks placed it firmly in the top 10 in football, though there was still a large disparity with the Denver Broncos, who led the NFL with 68.

Hall recorded only 1.5 sacks last season, but registered a career-high 39 total tackles, with a couple being for a loss. He had 5.5 sacks in 2024.

A second-round pick from the 2022 NFL Draft, Hall has recorded 101 total tackles, with 53 solo and 48 assisted, 23 quarterback hits and 10 sacks in 66 games played in four years. And to show his reliability, Hall has played in all but two possible games so far in his career.

Adding Logan Hall emphasizes Texans' offseason plans

Adding Hall furthers Texans general manager Nick Caserio's clear emphasis on the defensive line this offseason. Caserio has also retained defensive end Danielle Hunter, defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins and Naquan Jones while bringing in former Chicago Bears defensive end Dominique Robinson.

And with questions surrounding quarterback C.J. Stroud after regressing in back-to-back seasons — he's thrown 20 interceptions in the past two seasons combined, following just five in his rookie year — the Texans seem to be operating under the belief that defense wins championships and bolstering that side of the ball will increase the overall team's chances at contending again.

Despite a solid 12-5 regular season and a dominating win over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC wild-card round, the Texans still finished behind the rival Jacksonville Jaguars for the AFC South title and then were eliminated by the eventual conference champion New England Patriots in the divisional round.
