Texans Announce Concerning Injury Development Before Chiefs Game

The Houston Texans are now 7-5 going into a pivotal Week 14 matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on "Sunday Night Football."

The Texans are coming off a big win over the Indianapolis Colts, 20-16, in Week 13. CJ Stroud threw for 276 yards with no scores and an interception, and Nick Chubb scored the lone touchdown of the game for Houston.

That marked the Texans' fourth straight win after starting with a 3-5 record, so there is some hope for DeMeco Ryans' team.

They sit just one game behind the Buffalo Bills, Los Angeles Chargers and Colts for the AFC Wild Card spots, and those three teams are all tied with 8-4 records.

Unfortunately, the Texans are dealing with an injury to defensive star Will Anderson Jr.

Anderson was dealing with a chest issue going into Week 13, but he was able to play against the Colts.

On Wednesday, the Texans released their injury report, and Anderson is now listed as a DNP.

A total of eight Houston players were listed as DNP, including running back Woody Marks.

Ryans did say that Anderson and Marks "will all be fine," but mentioned they would "see how the week goes," according to Sam Warren of The Houston Chronicle.

Still, these players starting the week with a DNP isn't entirely promising.

Anderson was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he had 18 sacks in his first two years. This season, he has 25 solo tackles and 10.5 sacks through 12 games, so he is a big piece of the Houston defense.

The Texans and Chiefs play on Sunday night at 8:20 pm ET with the game broadcast on NBC.
