Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans is more than happy to get one of his best weapons back and going
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

The Houston Texans, despite the setback of losing one of their best offensive players, Tank Dell, to a season-ending injury, maintained one of the best and most explosive offenses in the league last year. This resilience is a testament to the team's strength and determination. Dell, who had 709 yards receiving and set a franchise rookie record with seven touchdown receptions last season, is now back after breaking his left fibula in December against the Denver Broncos.

The Texans will look to have an even better offense now with more additions, like wide receiver Stefon Diggs, and a second year in the offense with mostly everyone back. They will also have Dell back as well, who was in the first week of OTAs with the Texans last week.

Having him there was very important for the Texans, and head coach DeMeco Ryans felt that during practice.

"Yeah, I'm happy for Tank [Dell] to get back out there," Ryans said. "Obviously, we know he went through a very tragic situation. We're just happy that he's here, happy that he's back out doing what he loves doing, and that's playing football. So, it's fun to see him running around and being the same player he's been before, just making plays and being a dynamic player for us. So, everyone is excited to see Tank back."

As we stated earlier, the Texans also added Diggs this offseason, one of the more prolific wide receivers in the league, and drafted some weapons, like Cade Stover, who is already making plays at OTAs. But when you factor in the big three wide receivers the Texans have, it's hard not to daydream about what the offense could look like.

This is the best receiver room in the league, and each one brings their own unique style that will help the Texans in 2024 en route to being a Super Bowl contender.

"When you talk about receivers with multiple skill sets that is what you want," Ryans continued. "You want different body types, different types of movers to cause as many problems for defense as possible, right? We want to put defenses in binds, and I think with those three guys it allows us to do that because they are so different, and they can all do different things.

"But at the end of the day, they are all explosive finishers with the football, and that is what makes those guys great players. They can win on third down, and they can finish and get in the end zone, and that's what we look for at all skills positions on offense. So, having three receivers there definitely opens up the playbook for us and puts a lot of stress on the defense."

Dell is going to be one of the receivers in this offense who takes the top off of the defense with his elite speed and route running. He can also get it done in the middle of the field in the intermediate area, as we can expect him to play in the slot some, too.

Not only that, but we can expect the three to coincide well together since they all three play different styles. Getting Dell back is crucial because of the chemistry he needs to build with Diggs, the new guy on the team. He needs to continually progress in this offense, too, as his ceiling has yet to be reached. He is the kind of player who can easily be WR1 on this roster.

The offense can be good without Dell, as we saw last season. But, to reach their peak, he needs to be involved. We are seeing that now in OTAs, as he has already made some big plays. Certainly, head coach DeMeco Ryans has to be happy.
