Texans vs. Broncos Creates Opportunity for Brevin Jordan
Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Houston Texans tight end Dalton Schultz will miss Sunday's game against the Denver Broncos at NRG Stadium.

Due to a hamstring injury, Schultz's absence will give third-year tight end Brevin Jordan a chance to start for the Texans. But more importantly, an opportunity for Jordan to leave an impact on the Texans' offense. According to Sports Radio 610 Landry Locker, Jordan isn't oblivious to the moment.

Jordan entered the 2022 season as the favored to take the helm as the Texans' top tight end.

But halfway through his second year, Jordan found himself spending more time on the sideline than taking snaps on Sundays. An early season ankle injury caused Jordan to miss three consecutive games. Halfway through the season, three healthy scratches forced Jordan back on the sideline.

In December, Jordan exclusively told Texans Daily it hurt not suiting up consistently but refused to drown in sorrow. He remained motivated. Before leaving NRG Stadium for the off-season, Jordan said he was looking forward to another opportunity to showcase his talents in 2023.

Jordan has had little opportunity prior to Schultz's injury. He has appeared in eight games this season, but a significant amount of his snaps have been on special teams.

But against the Broncos, Jordan's talents will be relied upon to help the Texans keep their playoff hopes alive. And for the first time since the back half of his rookie season in 2021, Jordan will play a significant role in the Texans' offensive game plan.

His rookie season was promising, as the former University of Miami prospect caught 20 passes for 178 yards and three touchdowns in nine games. Over the previous two seasons combined, Jordan has recorded 188 yards with 20 catches and one touchdown.
