Texans 'want to repair the relationship' with Deshaun Watson

Despite Deshaun Watson reportedly requesting a trade, the Houston Texans hope to repair their relationship with the quarterback and hope that they aren't forced to trade him.

"Texans don't want to trade Watson and want to repair the relationship," the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson wrote on Twitter. "This is a big step in the disconnect between Pro Bowl passer and Texans."

It makes sense that the Texans would not want to trade their franchise quarterback, as Watson is only 25 years old and led the NFL in passing yards last season. However, the damage may have already been done, as Watson seems committed to getting a fresh start after Houston's sharp decline over the past year. Before this season, the Texans had made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons but the team soon imploded, resulting in the firing of Bill O'Brien and the Texans finishing 4-12.

Following the disappointing season, rumors began to emerge that Watson may want to be traded from the team. If Watson is available for trade, he will surely generate significant interest from a ton of teams, as quarterbacks as young and talented as Watson are almost never available after they are drafted. Several teams have already been linked to acquiring Watson, including the Dolphins, Jets, Bears, and Patriots. And many more possible suitors will surely emerge over the offseason.

But if Houston feels it has any chance at reconciling with Watson, it is unlikely that the team will willingly trade the best quarterback in its history.
