The Kansas City Chiefs' offensive line faced a lot of adversity in 2024.
Four different players started at the left tackle position throughout the season, and left guard was majorly downgraded when Joe Thuney had to ultimately hold it down at LT. Right tackle Jawaan Taylor also battled through a knee injury for most of the year.
Taylor had a couple of procedures done on his knee during the offseason to fix the problem. Now that he's past that, and the Chiefs have their LT of the future in Josh Simmons, the offensive line can go full steam ahead in 2025.
That's exactly what it did during K.C.'s preseason finale against the Chicago Bears. The offensive line performed very well, and the offense put up 17 points in three possessions as a result. While speaking to the media on Wednesday, Taylor said their mindset is rooted in preparation and aggressiveness.
"We're getting better on days like today," Taylor said. "Just a work day, just going out there as a unit and taking every rep one at a time, one play at a time, trying to get better as a unit. Just going through meetings, learning what we can learn to get better as a unit and get better each and every day. We are trying to be as aggressive as we can, going out there and playing at our best and having a great week of practice and prepare for a great team."
The Chiefs will face a very good Los Angeles Chargers' defense in Week 1. While the offensive line will do its due diligence to be ready, Taylor went on to say that the guys also make sure to have a little fun along the way.
"Over the past couple of years, we've learned to play together," Taylor said. "Coach Reid puts together great game plans, and guys are having fun and playing for one another. That's why we have so much success."
