For the first three seasons of his NFL career, Detroit Lions star running back Jahmyr Gibbs has (at least relatively) split the backfield with David Montgomery. But with the duo nicknamed “Sonic and Knuckles,” broken up with Montgomery heading to Houston, Gibbs will get his first opportunity as a true bell-cow back.
With his role in the offense increasing even more and the final year of his rookie deal approaching, he’s decided to “hold-in,” at Lions training camp while he gets a long-term deal worked out.
The Alabama product has gotten plenty of the ball so far in his career, posting at least 240 carries and 1,200 yards in both 2024 and 2025 while adding 100+ catches and 1,000+ receiving yards combined in that span. In 2024 he led the entire NFL with 16 rushing touchdowns, and he’s missed just two games in his three-year career so far. Even with teams being hesitant to hand out big money to running backs, entering his age-24 season, Gibbs seems to check all the boxes of a player to pay.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Gibbs is one of 23 players in NFL history to rack up at least 1,000 rushing yards and 500 receiving yards in the same season multiple times. How many of those players can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
