Happy 44th birthday to nine-year NFL veteran running back and two-time Super Bowl champion, Brandon Jacobs!
Jacobs was a fourth-round selection in the 2005 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, recording 38 carries as a rookie in relief of franchise-legend Tiki Barber. While Jacobs never made a Pro Bowl, he put together back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns in 2007 and 2008 despite playing just 11 games in 2007. 2008 was his most productive season as a professional, rushing for career-highs in yards (1,089) and touchdowns (15).Â
He’ll also be remembered for being a member for the Giants teams that beat Tom Brady not once, but twice to lift the Lombardi Trophy – most notably in Super Bowl XLII where they ruined the Patriots perfect season.
Jacobs played two more seasons after the Super Bowl XLVI victory, spending a short stint with the 49ers before returning to and retiring with the Giants in 2014.Â
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Jacobs is one of 49 players in NFL history to rush for at least 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns in the same season. How many of those players can you name in seven minutes?
Good luck!
