And then, there was one head coach standing in the AFC North.
As everyone expected before the season, the Cincinnati Bengals are the only team in the division bringing back their head coach for 2026-27 after Mike Tomlin stepped down from the job for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The head coaching search will be just the third the Steelers have had to conduct since hiring Chuck Noll for the 1969 season. To put that stability in perspective, the Tennessee Titans are looking for their second coach in three years, while the Las Vegas Raiders are currently looking for their fifth head coach in five seasons.
Tomlin coached 19 seasons in the Steel City and while he never had a losing season, he also hadn’t won a playoff game since reaching the 2017 AFC Championship game. At just 53 years old, he’s expected to take a year away from coaching before possibly returning to the NFL.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Tomlin took over the Pittsburgh Steelers from Bill Cowher in 2007 and went on to win 193 games, two AFC titles and a Super Bowl in 2009. With that being said, can you name every NFL head coach at the start of Tomlin’s first season in 2007-08?
Good luck!
