The 2 Worst Performances in Giants Week 18 Loss
Vincent Carchietta-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Giants concluded their regular season with a 22-16 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles.

With the game meaning nothing for the Giants, the team opted to rest their starters ahead of their Wild Card game next weekend.

A number of players on the bench stepped up and gave surprisingly good performances.

However, some struggled to really impress in their opportunity.

Here are two players with the worst performances.

2. Matt Breida

While the Giants backup running backs will not get many looks in the playoffs, there is a chance that they could play a big role if something happens to Saquon Barkley.

This season, Matt Breida has served as the primary backup.

However, he struggled to put anything together on Sunday.

While his numbers weren’t awful, posting 28 yards on just four rushes, his fellow running back Gary Brightwell outperformed him.

Breida had an opportunity to show his value to the Giants, and while he likely didn’t do anything to hurt that opportunity, there is a chance the team may wanna use Brightwell more in the playoffs.

1. Nick Vannett

While it is obviously difficult to critique players that haven’t gotten many chances this season, Nick Vannett is one that could have taken advantage of this playing time.

The veteran tight end is in his sixth NFL season and has put up respectable numbers over that time.

This includes his 2018 season where he totaled 269 yards with the Seattle Seahawks.

However, he has been a non-factor in the Giants offense this year since the team picked him up halfway through the season.

While the Giants rookie tight end Daniel Bellinger has played alright, Vannett had an opportunity to show his value on Sunday.

This didn’t quite happen though, as he finished with just two catches for 18 yards.

It likely doesn’t have much of an impact, if any at all, on the Giants’ personnel decisions, but it would’ve been nice to see Vannett put up a better line.
