Happy 66th birthday to four-time Pro Bowler, three-time Super Bowl champion and 1988 AP Offensive Player of the Year, Roger Craig!
Craig was selected in the second round of the 1983 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers out of Nebraska. He made an immediate impact, carrying the ball 331 times for 1,374 yards in relief of Wendell Tyler. He also contributed to the Niners Super Bowl XIX win over the Miami Dolphins, carrying the ball 15 times for 58 yards and his lone TD of the 1984-85 postseason.
Criag posted his first 1,000-yard campaign and made his first Pro Bowl in 1985, and would add another two such seasons in San Francisco’s back-to-back championships in 1988-89 and 1989-90.
After eight seasons with the 49ers, he spent a season with the Raiders and two with the Vikings with an ever-shrinking role before retiring after the 1993 season. He finished his career with 8,189 rushing yards, 4,911 receiving yards and 73 combined TD's, numbers that earned him a spot in the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2026.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Craig entered the elite 2,000-scrimmage-yard club in 1988, racking up a career-best 2,036. With that being said, can you name every NFL player with a 2,000-scrimmage-yard season?
Good luck!
