Ja'Marr Chase brings freaky strength to the table as a wide receiver, sparking his top superpower that The 33rd Team's Sam Monson discussed this week.
He broke down a wow play by Chase last season where he burned Washington cornerback Benjamin St. Juste for a touchdown. Monson has Chase ranked first among all wide receivers entering the 2025 season.
"His real superpower is he's got that effortless ability to shed contact all the way through the route, whether it's a jam at the line of scrimmage," Monson said on the Check The Mic Podcast. "There's a play against Washington last year where Benjamin St. Juste e of all people, actually does a really good job jamming him at the line, and 10 yards into the route, he looks blanketed, like it's like he's got hands all over him.
"He stopped the release, and down the sideline, it looks like a large corner like St. Juste is winning the rep. And then I still don't know how he did it, but Chase just gets rid of the contact, and by the time the ball arrives, he's got, like, a yard and a half of separation. And it's a big play. I don't know how he did that. I watched that play like 15 times. Couldn't work out what he did to go from he's in trouble on this rep to actually, he's just torched Benjamin St. Juste for a big play. But he does that all the time."
Chase amassed a healthy 6.3 yards after catch per reception last season, in large part thanks to his ability to separate throughout his routes.
He's had another full offseason to work on his body, this time without a contract extension lingering over his head.
