The '4,500-passing-yard NFL seasons' quiz

The Atlanta Falcons will conclude their preseason slate with a trip to Miami to take on the Dolphins and head coach Kevin Stefanski has already revealed who he plans to play under center. 

With Michael Penix Jr. just returning to team drills this week, Stefanski said he plans to start  former-Dolphin Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback on Friday night. 

While it’s just a preseason game, it could be an important day in the trajectory of Tua’s 2026 season as he’s currently embroiled in a battle with Penix Jr. for the starting gig and hasn’t particularly impressed so far in training camp. 

The seventh-year is coming off of his second-consecutive season throwing for fewer than 3,000 yards after leading the NFL in passing yards in 2023, throwing 20 touchdowns to 15 interceptions before getting released by Miami this offseason. In Atlanta’s most recent preseason game against the Broncos, he went 3-for-5 through the air for just 22 yards and a lost fumble. 

Which brings us to today’s quiz. If Tagovailoa does end up as the Falcons starting QB for the majority of the campaign, he’ll have the best weapons around him since his 2023 Pro Bowl campaign when he threw for 4,624 yards.
