Happy 32nd birthday to five-time Pro Bowler and Detroit Lions starting quarterback, Jared Goff!
Goff was selected with the first-overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft, and things didn’t look great in his rookie season. He and the Rams went 0-7 in games he started, with the California product throwing for 1,089 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
It seemed Goff and the Rams had arrived in 2017, winning 11 and 13 games over the next two seasons with Goff racking up a combined 8.492 yards, 60 touchdowns and an appearance in Super Bowl LIII against the Patriots. The Rams mustered just three points in the loss, and things were downhill from there for Goff in LA.
Ahead of the 2021 season, he was traded to Detroit in a blockbuster move that sent Matthew Stafford to the Rams and has worked well for both sides. After a putrid 3-13 season in the Lions first year under Dan Campbell, Goff has eclipsed 4,000-yards in each season since 2022, led Detroit to a 15-win season in 2024 and currently leads one of the most explosive (on paper) offenses in the NFL.
The Lions are 3-2 through five weeks in 2026, rebounding from their ‘Sunday Night Football,’ loss to Carolina with a resounding 45-21 win over Arizona, with Goff tossing three touchdowns and rushing for another without an interception.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Goff is one of 35 quarterbacks in NFL history with at least one 4,500-passing-yard season to their credit. How many of those quarterbacks can you name in five minutes?
Good luck!
