The 49ers are getting a needed boost on offense that could go a long way in training camp to get them ready for the season

The San Francisco 49ers want to put last year's disaster season in the rear-view mirror. Injuries piled up and derailed any chance they had at putting together a successful year. Unfortunately, they entered training camp with a few players still not 100%.

Their WR room has multiple clear uncertainties surrounding it, with Brandon Aiyuk, Jauan Jennings , and Ricky Pearsall missing the start of camp for different reasons. Luckily, one of them returned to the field on Sunday to give the 49ers offense a needed boost.

49ers activating second-year WR Ricky Pearsall from the Active PUP list

The 49ers' 2024 first-round pick, Ricky Pearsall, began camp on the NFL's Active/Physically Unable to Perform list, also known as Active PUP. That designation is no longer in effect, as the team activated the second-year WR, and he joined the team's practice on Sunday. Pearsall appeared in 11 games during his rookie season, recording 31 receptions, 400 receiving yards, and three touchdowns. It was far from a perfect year but he did show flashes of being the caliber of player the 49ers believed he can be which led them to use a first round pick on him.

He now enters year two with his primary goal being to stay healthy and play a full season. If he does this, he has the chance to show the 49ers he deserves to be a part of their long-term plans. If the team can get all three of Aiyuk, Jennings, and Pearsall healthy, they could have one of the most underrated WR cores in the league, and that's not even including superstar TE George Kittle. The 49ers need to bounce back in a big way in 2025 and demonstrate to the rest of the NFL that they remain one of the top teams in the league. And if you ask me, I think their offense needs to lead that charge.
