The '6-Passing-TD NFL games' quiz

After missing the playoffs for the first time with Patrick Mahomes as their starting quarterback and the future Hall of Famer tearing his ACL and MCL in Week 17 last year, there will be plenty of attention on Kansas City this season to see if the Mahomes/Andy Reid pairing still has juice. 

As the Chiefs prepare for their final preseason game, Mahomes won’t be in the lineup against Seattle. But all signs are pointing to him being ready for regular season Week 1 against the Denver Broncos. 

“That’s always been the plan,” Mahomes said. 

“Be ready for training camp, get all the reps in training camp, prepare your body that way. So when we get to Week 1, we’re ready to go.”

While the three-time Super Bowl champion isn’t officially cleared, he’s been a full participant in training camp this preseason despite suffering his injury in December. In his 13+ games in 2025, Mahomes threw for his fewest yards (3,587) and touchdowns (22) since he took over as the full-time starter in K.C. and the Chiefs finished just 6-11 with Gardner Minshew finishing out the season.
