The 2026 NFL season is quickly approaching, and as the Baltimore Ravens get set to face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday, September 13, in Week 1, they are already dealing with a problem surrounding Zay Flowers.

It was reported on Monday, August 31, that Flowers had missed the Ravens’ practice due to an undisclosed injury, and this follows him having sat out of practices last week as well.

While head coach Jesse Minter described the issue as “nothing major,” it is still notable that Flowers is missing practices this close to the season getting underway.

Why Zay Flowers’ Injury is a Major Storyline

The Ravens just gave Flowers a four-year, $140 million extension to show him how important he is to the organization. He is coming off his best season, as he had 86 receptions for 1,211 yards, and he was even dealing with quarterback instability as Lamar Jackson missed time.

Flowers is the WR1 for Baltimore by a landslide, which is why him missing practice this close to the season is something to monitor. With a new offensive coordinator in Declan Doyle, having Flowers out there in Week 1 will be pivotal for him to get into a rhythm as the Ravens’ play caller and have his offense get established.

If this injury problem does carry into Week 1 for Flowers, it will put immense pressure on Rashod Bateman and Ja’Kobi Lane to step up. There is still time for Flowers to return, but this issue is something to monitor for Baltimore.
