The Chargers Lead An Elite NFL Club In 2022
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Chargers are ready to take flight after missing last season’s playoffs.

Aside from retaining their top talent, they have added key players, especially on defense.

Those additions brought them to the top of an important list.

FOX Sports NFL revealed that the Chargers have the most players in the league’s Top 100 Players List for 2022 with eight.

The San Francisco 49ers are second with seven, while the Los Angeles Rams, Dallas Cowboys, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are tied in third with six.

The players themselves chose those who made it to the list.

Offensive tackle Rashawn Slater is the first Charger to appear on the list at number 79.

To prove that the Chargers have a solid offensive line, center Corey Linsley is ranked 60th.

Running back Austin Ekeler is at number 46 while quarterback Justin Herbert is at 40.

Derwin James, the league’s highest-paid safety after getting a four-year, $76.5 million extension, is at number 43.

Completing the list for the Chargers are wide receiver Keenan Allen (#36), linebacker Joey Bosa (#30), and cornerback J.C. Jackson (#20).

Strong Performances For Chargers’ Elite

Ekeler finished with 911 rushing yards, 647 receiving yards, and 20 total touchdowns last season.

Meanwhile, Allen had 1,138 yards and six touchdowns.

In his sophomore year, Herbert had 5,014 passing yards and 38 touchdowns.

On defense, James had a bounce-back season with 75 solo tackles, three forced fumbles, five passes defended, and two interceptions.

Bosa had 10.5 sacks and seven forced fumbles, while Jackson had eight picks and 44 solo tackles for the New England Patriots last year.
