The Chiefs Tried An Unusual Formation Against The 'Tush Push'

The Kansas City Chiefs tried everything to stop the Philadelphia Eagles' tush push play during the first quarter of Super Bowl LIX but failed.

The Eagles lined up from the one-yard line in their usual tush push formation and scored the game's opening touchdown to go up 7-0. The Chiefs even tried their own formation and tried to push Chris Jones into the offensive line.

Take a look:

It's an unusual formation but it didn't work since the Eagles jumped out to the early lead. The Eagles will surely try this play again a bit later in the game when another short-yardage situation comes up so it'll be interesting to see if the Chiefs change up their strategy.

After the Eagles' defense got another stop following a Jalen Hurts interception, the Eagles' offense added to their lead, taking a 10-0 lead on the Chiefs. The Eagles defense then got a pick-six from Cooper DeJean, extending the lead to 17-0.

The Chiefs have had a very slow start, and they'll need all three of their units to wake up quickly if they want to come back and win. The Chiefs have won the last two Super Bowls and are trying to become the first team to win three in a row.

The Eagles are trying to get revenge on the Chiefs after the Chiefs beat them in Super Bowl LVII two years ago. The Eagles got out to an early lead against them in that game but couldn't hold it in the fourth quarter, losing by a field goal, 38-35.

You can watch the rest of the first half (and the game) on FOX. Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady are on the call for everyone.
