It's not often that things go exactly as the Indianapolis Colts hoped in the NFL Draft.
But thankfully, the 2025 NFL Draft played out exactly how the Colts were hoping as they finally landed the tight end their fan base has been begging for all offseason long. Tyler Warren is officially a Colt.
You would need an entire closet to hold all of the hats Tyler Warren wore in Penn State's offense last year. He led the team as a receiver, but also impacted the game as a blocker, a runner, and even threw a few passes when asked.
The Colts have needed a difference-maker at TE ever since Jack Doyle's retirement, and they are getting that with Warren. He will be a day one starter and lands with a versatile play-caller who will get creative in scheming plays for his new toy on the offense.
Warren will be a significant help for Anthony Richardson, who is entering a make-or-break year. He is coming off a season where he finished as the John Mackey Award winner, which is given to the nation's top TE. He recorded 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns as a receiver and added 218 yards and four touchdowns as a runner with an incredible 8.4 yards per rush. He finished the year 7th in Heisman voting and now will look to build off his success and become the next elite NFL TE.

A to Z Sports Expected Draft Position: 10
Pre-Draft Round Projection: 1
"Tyler Warren is a unique player at tight end. Penn State moved him all over the formation to create mismatches and take advantage of his playmaking ability and it worked. He was the driving force that propelled the team deep into the College Football Playoff. He is capable of being a traditional "Y" tight end in-line, but a creative offensive coordinator will use him all over the place as a key cog in their passing game." - AJ Schulte A to Z Sports NFL Draft analyst
