The Colts' luck is continuing into 2024
USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts have felt they were on borrowed time with a key front office member for multiple years, but this one felt like a lock to be the year he left.

But against all odds, each General Manager opening in the NFL has been filled, and Colts Assistant GM Ed Dodds again did not take a job elsewhere.

All signs now point toward Dodds being back in the fold for 2024 with the Colts.

From the long-reported relationship between Dodds and the new Los Angeles Chargers head coach, Jim Harbaugh, many (including myself) thought he was a shoe for that job. But ESPN's Adam Schefter broke the news Monday that the Chargers are working to hire Baltimore Ravens Director of Player Personnel Joe Hortiz to become their next GM.

The Colts have been very fortunate not to lose either of their top two front-office members to GM jobs with Dodds and Moracoo Brown. That luck is bound to run out eventually, as both are incredible GM candidates and deserve the opportunity to run their own franchises. But it now seems that the luck is still alive for at least one more year as both remain with the team heading into the offseason.
