This year, Vikings training camp will be a little more exciting for multiple reasons. The biggest one is that J.J. McCarthy will be the starting quarterback going into training camp. There have been a lot of different opinions on McCarthy going into the year, and he will get a chance to prove them all wrong.
What's going to be really important here is McCarthy will be getting all, or nearly all of, the starting reps this summer. Having that to build up his confidence, along with learning, will be crucial for his development.
The Vikings will be all reported on the 22nd and they will have some time ahead of the first public practice. This year, the Vikings will have 12 practices open to the public, including the yearly night practice on August 4th and joint practices with the New England Patriots on August 13th and 14th.
This is going to be a crucial year for the Vikings, and it's coming up quicker than you think.
