The hits just keep on coming for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Sitting at 2-11 and riding a nine-game losing streak after Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Raiders and their fans are just waiting for this season to mercifully come to an end. Offensive inconsistencies and injuries have dominated much of the discussion surrounding the Raiders, and the quarterback room has been the subject of both at various points throughout the year.
Now, the Raiders are struggling from a lack of bodies at the position.
Just a couple of weeks after losing Gardner Minshew for the season to a broken collarbone against the Denver Broncos, Aidan O’Connell now appears to have suffered a similar fate after taking an injury to his left knee against the Buccaneers.
According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Raiders are fearing that O’Connell will be out for the remainder of the season due to the injury, depending on the results of additional testing.

If O’Connell is done for the year, the Raiders will turn to midseason acquisition Desmond Ridder for the final four games, starting with a revenge game against the Atlanta Falcons next Monday night.
Ridder was drafted by the Falcons in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft and started seventeen games for the organization before being traded to the Arizona Cardinals this past offseason. He would end up on the Cardinals practice squad before the Raiders picked him up in October.
It is also likely that the Raiders will sign undrafted free agent Carter Bradley from their own practice squad to back up Ridder once a roster spot opens up, barring anything unexpected. Prior to joining the Raiders, Bradley was a two-year starter for the South Alabama Jaguars, throwing for 5,995 yards and 47 touchdowns between 2022 and 2023.
The Raiders have already endured a difficult season to this point, and this latest twist will make it more nightmarish.
